n 1838 the original tavern building was divided into three parts and a new structure was built in its place. Between 1838 and 1890 the establishment changed management several times and was known as the Putnam House, Naumkeag House and Hotel Danvers.

During the history of the location, the military congregated there to elect officers and the selectmen and assessors held meetings. Benedict Arnold stayed on the tavern grounds on his way thru Massachusetts to attack Quebec.

In 1898, after a significant renovation, the establishment became Ye Olde Berry Tavern and operated as such until the early 1920’s.

Wow! I am so excited that this restaurant has opened in danvers. I have been twice since it opened, and was very impressed both times. The food was so good and I am already looking forward to going back and ordering the same meal again! (Benevento Chicken— yum!!!)

We went with two other couples and ended up staying for almost 3 hours chatting, the atmosphere is top notch! I can’t wait to go back here again soon.

This is a great local hot spot to grab a quick bite and some drinks. The service is great and the people are super friendly. I recommend this place for families and even dates!!

Went on Saturday night (7-16) food was outstanding. I got the chicken wings for an appetizer and the short ribs and parmesan risotto for an entree, delicious! They also had a live band “kill the lights” they were awesome! ! It was a great experience.

Great food and atmosphere. Chicken wings appetizer is delicious. Have been several times and tried different menu items, salads, burgers, and pizza, all were excellent.

Went into the Berry the other night and got.one of.the specials .above and beyond outstanding .  Drinks great atmosphere  fun with Lee and Kayliegh  on the bar.  Owners very  friendly.  This is a great addition to Danvers squAre.    A must go to don’t pass up this  place

There is a bike path in the back of the Bonkers parking lot that makes the Berry Tavern exactly a 3 mile walk. So, we walked there and had a great drink, and a couple of apps. The mussels are great, but the best is the grilled fig salad. This place is so good. I can’t wait for another nice day, because it’s a great incentive for a 6 mile walk.

Tried a couple of the martini’s and they were SO good!! The Shrimp Grand Marnier app was delicious!!!! Will be going again soon to try more on the menu!

Update: We went back again and ordered the Fig Salad, Pumpkin Ravioli and the Berry Tavern pizza! All were great! This is definitely the new hot spot in town!  Beautiful decor and warm atmosphere!

Finally I got to try it here!! I’m so happy I convinced my boyfriend to try this place. We walked in and we were greeted by the friendly hostess who immediately seated us. I got the almond joy martini (YUM!) and my boyfriend got his usual jack daniels and ginger ale and said it was perfect. For dinner her got steak tips and I got pesto ravioli. For dessert we got the tiramisu, which comes with a shot (for each of us) of lemoncello. Everything was amazing, and the staff was very friendly. I can’t wait to come back!
